In their words
How would you describe your ideal next role?
I'm looking for an Engineering Manager role leading one or two teams. I've been a team lead for five years across two companies, and have been shadowing my manager on hiring and performance reviews. I appreciate coordinating with product, QA, design, and other engineering leaders to make the best products possible. I love helping engineers grow, and expect to work on roadmaps and priorities while owning hiring, one-on-ones, coaching, and performance reviews. On the technical side, I would like to guide architecture and balance tech debt with feature work. Overall my goal is building collaborative, high-trust teams that get things done.
How would you describe your professional background?
I started in science, studying physics and later pursuing graduate work in astrophysics. An M.S. in Science Education sparked my passion for helping others grow, which has shaped my career ever since. I moved into software engineering in 2018, loving solving problems with code. I grew from full stack engineer to team lead, managing mobile and web teams at Modern Logic. Today I'm a Senior Software Engineer and team lead at Patterson Companies, working at a staff level while mentoring engineers and driving cross-team collaboration.
How would you describe your ideal next employer?
I'm looking for a mid-sized company, big enough for meaningful technical challenges but small enough that individuals can shape direction and culture. I thrive in collaborative environments that invest in mentorship, respect engineering best practices, and balance new products with improving existing ones. I'm looking for a team that is diverse or at least intends to pursue becoming more diverse would be ideal and a company that invests in the local tech community.
