In their words
How would you describe your ideal next role?
My next role is ideally a Principal or Staff engineer position where I can work on complex distributed systems, real-time data platforms, and/or cloud-native architecture. I enjoy working in cohesive teams alongside strong engineers, architects, product leaders, and business stakeholders. I would like to be responsible for shaping architecture, building solutions, mentoring developers, and establishing engineering practices and standards so the team can operate successfully at scale.
How would you describe your professional background?
I started my career as a backend application engineer with an emphasis on distributed systems and microservices. As my experience in distributed systems grew I gravitated towards real-time data because I enjoyed solving problems that cross application and infrastructure boundaries.
Over time I took on broader technical leadership responsibilities. Including architecture, platform design, mentoring, and cross-team alignment, while staying hands-on with implementation. That path has led my current role where I focus on building scalable systems, especially around event-driven architecture, cloud platforms, and streaming data.
I also enjoy sharing and building knowledge. Recently I have presented at technical conferences such as Open Source North and Current.
How would you describe your ideal next employer?
My ideal next employer would be a mid-sized or larger technology-driven organization where engineering is treated as a strategic capability. I’m most interested in companies with a collaborative, low-ego culture that values technical excellence and robust engineering practices. I’m especially drawn to organizations working with complex distributed systems, data-intensive platforms, cloud infrastructure, or real-time products.
Anything else to add?
I am interested in how AI can be used to deliver new capabilities to distributed systems. I would love to sink my teeth into such problems.
