How would you describe your ideal next role?
My ideal role would be a challenge and and an opportunity to grow. In this role, I would be expected to own my work from design to implementation, while learning from and collaborating with more experienced colleagues.
I would be encouraged to use state-of-the-art tools and techniques, to experiment, and to be a strong advocate for building high quality, maintainable systems focused on benefiting the users.
I would not manage people, but I would have the opportunity to mentor, teach, and be a role model in my team.
How would you describe your professional background?
I'm a lifelong learner experienced working across the stack, with a specialization in the design and implementation of distributed, event-driven backend systems. A mentor and perpetual student, I am at my best when I am
learning on my feet. I'm always looking for the next technical challenge, a new experience, and a new way out of my comfort zone.
As an engineer from a non-traditional background, I have real world experience in industries as diverse as manufacturing, transportation, and education, where I worked at the intersection of engineering and physical constraints, processes and people. As a result, I bring a deep understanding of the necessary tradeoffs as a system moves from concept to production.
