In their words
How would you describe your ideal next role?
My ideal role would be either a Product Owner responsible for the product roadmap, planning features and functionality with a cross functional team, managing and prioritizing the product backlog, aligning the team's work with business objectives. Being that bridge between stakeholders and the development team, and ensuring that internal and / or external customer needs are met. I love collaboration and working with people from various disciplines and roles, from developers and engineers, to QA folks, to product managers, to business stakeholders and leaders. OR, I would also be very interested in more of a technology “Swiss army knife” role, which is what I have done in my last few roles. I have a breadth of experience and love opportunities to apply it in different ways, whether project managing back end infrastructure projects, supporting TechOps or desktop support, leading Agile teams, strategic planning, or planning and managing products. I am curious and always up for a new challenge.
How would you describe your professional background?
I was working at the Science Museum of Minnesota, living my dream of planning and delivering science and art programs to teens and adults when I got an opportunity as a project manager and product owner at a locally owned web development company. I fell in love with technology and what it can do and be in different business models. I followed that passion (and awesome advice and help from my network of people) and found a role at a local eyewear company where I built my skills and was ultimately their Director of Technology. When they changed their business model, I found an opportunity as an Agile product owner at a fitness equipment company and learned a lot and grew in the Product space. Now I am a project manager on the global technology infrastructure team at a financial firm. I love to pursue new challenges, and have been so grateful to people I have met along the way who have helped me find these cool opportunities!
How would you describe your ideal next employer?
I would love to join a company that is based in the Twin Cities area, that has a high performing team and where people care about one another and each other’s experience in the workplace. Ideally the company or organization would give back philanthropically in some way. I am open to it being focused on goods, services or other, but most important is that they are interested in innovative technology, are open to agile processes, and have an inclusive, curious, continuously improving mindset.
