In their words
How would you describe your ideal next role?
I'm an engineer who loves people. My ideal role includes working with technical and non-technical collaborators to define requirements and make decisions, working with junior developers to help them improve their craft, and working with machines to deliver things that make other people's lives better. Concretely, lead developer, staff engineer, or consultant are good roles for me.
How would you describe your professional background?
I was making web sites before we had images, and now I make accessible responsive isomorphic web applications that have animations and visualizations and real-time video. It's wild! I've built for sectors including health care, education, arts, and politics, for organizations ranging from Fortune 50 enterprises to nonprofits to solo entrepreneurs. Along the way I've picked up a lot of knowledge and even a little wisdom.
How would you describe your ideal next employer?
I'm looking for mission-driven organizations, especially but not exclusively in areas like education, the arts, democracy, and climate change. I'm best in a small organization, or a small team with autonomy inside a larger enterprise. I thrive in an environment that combines collaboration and mutual respect with clear decision-making.
