How would you describe your ideal next role?
I'd like to be working directly with designers and stakeholders to advise, prototype, and ultimately build out thoughtful, responsive, and accessible interfaces.
How would you describe your professional background?
I've been working as a UI and frontend engineer for my entire career with the goal of someday working with agencies to build interactive systems for museums and other cultural institutions. Along the way I've worked with startups, mid to large sized corporations, consulting firms, and agencies on a wide range of projects including internal design systems, accessibility consulting, WebAR and 3D editor experiences, and CMS-driven platforms.
In 2021 landed that dream agency job building systems for museums, but major industry disruptions like COVID and federal funding cuts have led to dwindling project opportunities and layoffs across the country - myself included. I've worked as a freelance UI and frontend engineer for the past 3 years, but new disruptions this year have made that line of work more uncertain than ever. I'm ready to take all of my experience and focus it in one place!
How would you describe your ideal next employer?
I'm open to a range of industries, aside from defense. I would prefer a mid-sized company that is big enough to provide consistent, stable work, but small enough that teams can operate effectively and more or less autonomously. A culture that focuses on personal trust, flexibility, and treating workers as whole people with meaningful personal lives would be a priority for me.
