How would you describe your ideal next role?
My ideal next role would be with a mission-focused organization executing a business model that prioritizes the humanity of the consumer. I'd be working with a team of passionate folks who collaborate regularly and has transparency across the full SDLC, including product, design, engineering and QA. My responsibilities would focus on building the front end of an application, working in React and Typescript with a focus on product feature implementation, user experience design, design systems, accessibility, and bug fixing.
How would you describe your professional background?
I began my career in customer service, and honed my understanding of software users' experiences and expectations on the ground across several organizations. From there I moved into product management and User Experience design. I worked in several organizations as a product manager before I found that the challenges in product management took me too far away from the practical execution I had enjoyed about my work in customer service and design. Both of my roles in product management involved a small amount of coding, and I had enjoyed that work, and decided to move my career in that direction. I was able to move into software engineering relatively seamlessly, and have worked in roles focused on design systems, mobile and web application development, and application architecture.
How would you describe your ideal next employer?
The most important thing to me is that my employer has a culture of transparency and communication, and a dynamic and flexible approach to work. I wouldn't highly prioritize that my next employer is of a particular type, size, financing structure, or organizational structure. I would prefer to work at a company that's addressing a real problem for real people, and have found that healthcare, climate-focused organizations, employment-related industries, finance, and nonprofits tend to fit this brief.
